UNDER UK ATHLETICS RULES
Venue: Willoughby Avenue/The Esplanade Car Park, West Mersea as detailed (CLICK FOR DIRECTIONS) . This is the excellent traditional start and finish point for this race, with virtually unlimited car parking spaces.
Date, Time & Place: Bank holiday Sunday 24th August 2008, 10.30am start. Car park, Willoughby Ave/The Esplanade, West Mersea, Mersea Island (Nr. Colchester), Essex.
Course Details:
All road , 5 miles lap (x 2 for 10 mile race) over fast, slightly undulating scenic roads with delightful rural and sea views. (CLICK FOR COURSE MAP)
Drink Stations: There will be 3 (per 5 mile lap), manned drink stations around the course.
Prizes:
Medals for all, trophies for usual categories as detailed on the entry form
Also there will be team prizes, an innovation for this race.

Minimum age for entry: 10 miles - 17 years, 5 miles - 15 years
Number of Runners: Last year approx numbers, 350,
combined both 10 and 5 miles races, with the usual mix of club and unattached
runners, experienced and new.
ALL RUNNERS ARE WELCOME!
Winning Time: Last three years, approx 53/54 minutes (10 miles), and 27/28 minutes (5 miles).
The 10 mile course record was set by The Island's Own Top Flight International Runner Adrian Mussett in 2002, in 51.17 minutes.

Proceeds: Will be donated to several Mersea Island Lions Charities.
